Before your appointment
Before your procedure
A valid government ID must be presented on the day of procedure.
Disqualifications for PMU procedure
- Is currently pregnant
- Is on steroid medication (should be off for at least 2 months)
- Having cancer / undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
- Having open wound present
- Having a bacterial or viral infection
Check with your doctor
- Have been in remission from cancer for 1 year
- Have high blood pressure
- Have seborrheic dermatitis
- Using blood thinning prescriptions
How to get your skin ready for the procedure
2 weeks before
- No botox / any chemical peels
- Glycolic, pumpkin, alpha hydroxy acid, salicylic acid, microdermabrasion, laser facials; both ablative and non-ablative
- Fraxel, Co2, and IPL laser treatments
- Do not tan or have sunburned face/skin
7 days before
- Do not pluck/tweeze/wax/perform electrolysis one week before the procedure
- Avoid Retin-A, retinol, or any strong (acid) skin care products
- Avoid antibiotics, iron supplements and magnesium — all compromise the integrity of the skin
- Avoid any mood-altering drugs
- Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Motrin, Warfarin, Coumadin, Aleve, Excedrin, Advil, Evening primrose oil, or Ibuprofen (Tylenol/Acetaminophen is okay!)
- Do not take Fish Oil (Omega-3) or Vitamin E (natural blood thinners)
24 hours prior
- Do not drink alcohol 24–48 hours before the procedure
- Do not work out the day of the procedure
- Do not consume coffee or any caffeine the same day of your procedure
